Honeypot creates a safe environment to capture unsolicited and often malicious traffic on a network. It acts as a decoy to lure cyberattackers, and to detect, deflect attempts to gain unauthorized access. The honeypot safely captures all communications with the attacker.
As Google defines it, “reCAPTCHA uses an advanced risk analysis engine and adaptive challenges to keep malicious software from engaging in abusive activities on your website. Meanwhile, legitimate users will be able to login, make purchases, view pages, or create accounts and fake users will be blocked.”
